Prom Fashion Comes to Pine Ridge

May 10, 2017

Oyate Teca Project brings fabulous prom fashion to the boys and girls of the Pine Ridge Reservation free of charge. The Oyate Teca Project held a prom fashion show on March 9th at Little Wound School. The fashion show’s goal was to show off the dresses available at the Kyle Youth Center free of charge to all high-school boys and girls.

Local high-school students volunteered to serve as models; walking the catwalk for more than fifty members of the community.  The audience was welcomed to try on dresses at the center after the show.

The dresses were provided by, Karen Posner, Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City, and numerous individual donors. Dresses are still available free of charge to high school students from every school reservation wide. The center offers dresses in most sizes as well as jewelry, shows, and other accessories.

Extra dresses were saved for next year or were given to those graduating high school, eight grade, and college. So far, we have been able to help about 200 students this year!
