Friend of All Nations
In Spring 2021, we proudly announced the Oyate Ta Kola Ku (Friend of All Nations) Community Center addition to The Oyate Teca Project on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The +21,000 square foot center is named for Running Strong co-founder Gene Krizek of Christian Relief Services, and will more than triple the amount of programming space The Oyate Teca Project currently offers.
Expanded Programs
Indoor gymnasium and multi-purpose room to host sports, powwows, events, and more
Farmers’ market year-round to provide healthy food access point and income for seasonal growers
Public WiFi and computers help students succeed with reliable Internet connections
Multiple art, music, and sewing classrooms allow for simultaneous classes
Warehouse and expanded storage for distribution of food, medical, educational, and clothing needs
Teaching kitchen and cannery for home economics and mass food prep
Reinforced restrooms double as wind storm and tornado shelters
Outdoor area supports gardening, sports, social events, and more
Café prepares traditional Lakota foods with local ingredients in a sit-down bistro restaurant
