Dear Friends of the Oyate Teca Project,

 

It is the holiday season once again, and on behalf of the Oyate Teca Project, I would like to thank you for your donations and request your continued support during this season of giving. Your commitment to helping our youth and their families in our community is sincerely appreciated.

Each year the Oyate Teca Project continues to advance its mission of helping youth and their families on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Through our youth activities, cultural classes, gardening, and collaboration with local organizations and schools we are pleased with the impact we are making in our community.

 

As you may know we are in the process of building a new 21,000 sqaure foot center, this new center will help us provide even better programs and services for the youth and their families, the building will include a gymnasium, that will be used for the quarterly events, evening leagues, fashion shows, exercise classes, etc. The teaching kitchen will be used to help the youth, young parents and others to prepare a meal from scratch, obtain basic home economic skills, and used as a training facility for programs such as the elderly program. A commercial kitchen to be used for our gardeners, a place to process their harvest and create value-added supply. Classroom's for sewing, art, gardening and life skills for the community, the possibilities are endless.  The building will also have a cafe to help off-set some of the cost. 

 

Because of the skyrocketing prices of lumber and steel we had to eliminate a few design elements, such as the athletic flooring, bleachers and scoreboard for the gym. the front entry canopy/structural entry covering, and asphalt for the parking lot, your donation will be applied to help complete the build.

 

The goal of the Oyate Teca Project is to continue to make a difference in the lives of youth and their families. With the help of donations from supporters such as you we will continue to see improvements in our programs and in the lives of those who participate in them.
